Description of the youth exchange:
Apply now to participate in the youth exchange on historic and cultural connections between young people from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia.
36 participants who love history and traditional culture will come together for a week of international bonding and learning about the Nordic past and present. Join the the project to learn about nature, environment and cultural history of the North by simulating village life and trade in the Northern region 200 years ago.
The project will based on creative methods such as: music, drama, role play, sports, arts, photography and outdoor activities. Final schedule will be based on the participants interest and wishes like: fishing, making organic paint, fixing shingle roofing on historic building and hiking.

1. Connect with other participants and decide what and how you want to learn. Don't worry,
experienced team of youth work and culture professionals will be there to help.
2. Come to Hyvärilä youth center and get experiences of the lifetime.
3. Plan new youth exchanges with your new friends.
Conditions of Participation:
Participation in the youth exchange is free of charge (meals and accommodation will be covered by the project budget)
The youth exchange will take place in the Holiday-and Youth center of “ Hyvärilä ” ,the center serves travelers, youth and event organizers on the north shore of Lake Pielinen in Nurmes. For more info about Hyvärilä
We will be accommodated in rooms in youth hostel Rantatupa, the hostel is right on the shore of Lake Pielinen, there are 15 rooms of various sizes with beds for 2-10 persons. WCs and showers are in the corridor, and there is a communal self-service kitchen and lounge for guests. The rooms have bunk beds with a table and chairs. Downstairs there is a washroom and drying room for clothes.
Travel costs are reimbursed, which means that participants are asked to buy their own tickets and then get reimbursement via bank transfer after the end of the project upon receipt of original copies of their travel documentation.
If you are unable to pay for your own tickets, please contact Framtidståget and we will assist you in that.

You are between 16 and 25 years old.
You would like to travel to Finland to learn from and together with young people from other countries.
You are motivated to work in a group with non-formal education methods.
You are interested to learn about history and culture of Nordic countries.
You are able to communicate in English (The official language of the youth exchange will be English).
