Time: 9 October - 17 October 2019
City: Chaves, Portugal
Main organizers: Inspira! Youth Association (Portugal)
Financing: The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union
Description of the training course:
Nature 101 is a European training course focused on promoting the use of nature as a tool for all kind of educational purposes. From recreational and pedagogic activities for youngsters to education of adults and inclusion of social minorities, we believe nature can be a healthy background for the implementation of impactful sessions and activities. During 9 days, youth workers from countries all around Europe will join in the town of Chaves, in the Northern hill region of Portugal, a rural and isolated area of the country.
With the support of two qualified trainers, you will share methods, knowledge, experiences and the reality of the nature in different countries and communities. You will learn the basics about nature and ecology, how to use environmental and experimental education on their target groups and how to adapt those techniques to work with young people. You will work in groups, create games and activities and practice those new methods on local young people from Chaves. You will join their efforts and all the new acquired tools to develop a guidance brochure for all future environmental education in the youth work field.
