Time: 23 October - 29 October 2019

City: Modica, Italy

Main organizers: Associazione Attiva-mente (Italy)

Description of the training course:

"Civic Involved Alliance of Organization” (CIAO) is a network project to be held in Modica from 23 to 29 October 2019 and will be attended by 32 participants coming from 15 countries and representing three continents and different regions, involving organizations from Italy, Greece, Hungary, Estonia, Spain, Romania, Sweden, Bulgaria, Georgia, Ukraine, Moldova, Tunisia, Lebanon and Jordan.

The central topic of the project concerns the ability of youth organizations to be involved in the fight against radicalization and discrimination. The project aims to:

• develop alliances between youth organizations and the community to which they belong

• support local projects and activities that counter the social exclusion of young people in society, their limited participation and prevent their radicalization towards jihadist or racist and xenophobic ideologies.

• provide anti-extremism tools to the youth workers and NGOs responsible.

The objectives of the project will be achieved through creative workshops, simulations, peer education workshops, discussions on participation and group activities that allow young people and operators to encourage participation in the social life of their community. The methodology that will be applied will be largely non-formal, especially linked to "learning by doing" and group activities that will be used by the participants to work in contact with different cultural backgrounds.

MANTRA - Training Course

Time: 29 July - 7 August 2019

City: Yerevan, Armenia

Main organizers: Framtidståget (Sweden), Armenian Progressive Youth (Armenia)

Financing: The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union

Description of the training course:

Apply now to participate in the training course “MANTRA - Meditation, Yoga and Self-Care” and spend 8 days in Yerevan (Arminia) together with other youth workers from Armenia, Georgia, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Belgium, Belarus, Turkey, Sweden, Russian Federation, Portugal, Moldova, North Macedonia, Greece, Ukraine.

Reflecting upon the last years of our extensive work with vulnerable and marginalized youth, we have often found ourselves anxious, tired, stressed and burned out. Wether working professionally or on a voluntary basis, we take our work very close to our hearts and try to find time for everything and everyone but rarely for ourselves.

Sounds familiar, right? Working with vulnerable young people, youth with fewer opportunities and young people from very different social and cultural backgrounds is demanding, requires an individual approach, empathetic communication, a caring attitude and a very high degree of responsibility. As youth workers we also often undervalued, underpaid and work in stressful environments under high pressure.

This is exactly why, we, Framtidståget, and Armenian Progressive Youth NGO from Armenia have developed this project, feeling a strong need and desire among our partner organizations to get introduced to self-care practices and try to apply those back in our organizations, work and lives.

Conditions of Participation:

  • Accommodation and food are covered by the project budget, participants will only have to pay a 40EUR fee that will help to cover accommodation and food costs

  • If selected for the project, you’ll have to pay Framtidståget membership fee (50kr or 100kr). Of course, this doesn’t apply if you are already a member.

  • Travel costs are reimbursed (up to 360 EUR), which means that participants are asked to buy their own tickets and then get reimbursement via bank transfer after the end of the project upon receipt of original copies of their travel documentation.

Gender Bender - Youth Exchange

Gender Bender - Youth Exchange

Time: 18 - 25 June 2019

City: Djerba, Tunisia

Main organizer: Framtidståget, Sweden

Financing: The project is co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union

Description of the youth exchange:

Apply now to participate in the youth exchange “Gender Bender” and live an amazing experience with young people from Sweden, Italy, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia, Serbia and Turkey.

People tend to use the terms “sex” and “gender” interchangeably. We assign a sex to a new-born, as either male or female, based on their genitals. Once a sex is assigned, we presume the child’s gender. Ideally, we'd live in a world where everyone could exist as whatever gender they are without constantly having to explain or defend themselves. In a world like that, we might not have to put a name to a gender. But that's not where we're at right now. Instead, we live in a world where gender defaults to man or woman, and society at large rarely talks about genders that exist outside of that binary (and there are many).

During the project, you are going to discuss and explore topics such as gender identity and gender roles, as well as the overall concept of gender. The project is based on non-formal education methods which means interactive, practical and fun activities which help to get a deeper understanding of the topic.

Conditions of Participation:

  • Participation in the youth exchange is free of charge (meals and accommodation will be covered by the project budget)

  • If selected for the project, you’ll have to pay Framtidståget membership fee (50kr). Of course, this doesn’t apply if you are already a member.

  • Travel costs are reimbursed (up to 360 EUR), which means that participants are asked to buy their own tickets and then get reimbursement via bank transfer after the end of the project upon receipt of original copies of their travel documentation.

The title of the project is an acronym: ROOF (Routes Of Our Future). It is a title that symbolically refers to Europe as the common roof under which citizens have decided to live together in peace and respect for diversity; at the same time the road and the path that the participants will make cycling throughout Europe symbolically recalls that European citizens and institutions still have to struggle to overcome divisions, selfishness and misunderstandings. The project aims to gather citizens' opinions on the future of the European Union, create new networks and reinforce existing ones. Besides cycling, the participants will take part in activities related to these themes. Every two or three days there will be stops in the municipalities crossed along the path with the organization of minimum 3 events with local communities per exchange (students, associations, local communities, public bodies and political decision-makers) to stimulate debates and urge participation in the forthcoming European elections.

The project consists of the following stages:

  • 17 April - 8 May 2019, European bicycle exchange: cycling from Malmö to Prague (between 50 and 90 km of cycling per day, with some rest days)

Facilitate Faith - Training Course in Serbia

Time: 27 Oct - 4 Nov 2018

Representative in Sweden: Föreningen Framtidståget, Stockholm

Main organizer: NGO “IUVENTA”, Serbia

Financing: Erasmus+ Grant Programme by European Commission

Description of the training-course:

High-quality facilitation is vital for a project success. For many trainers and youth workers, interreligious dialogue is not the most comfortable topic to work with. When we are talking about education in contact with religion, educators often worry about offending someone or favoring a belief for that matter. Addressing religion, especially when it comes to non formal education, is essential for learning, and can adequately provide youngsters with a diverse connection to the world. When dealing with a highly sensitive topic, as interreligious dialogue, especially with young people involved, tools to use for this are very limited. Lack of educational methods and concrete tools is a clear sign how much interreligious dialogue is an somewhat avoided topic, but we are all aware how much is needed for ultimately achieving peace. This training for beginner trainers and facilitators has the main aim to equip participants with knowledge, methods and new tools, needed for the proper education of youth on the topic of religion and interreligious dialogue, in order to improve the level ofeducation and further promotion of peace, active participation, as well as interreligious and intercultural dialogue in Europe

Our goal: To introduce new practical tools for interreligious dialogue (board games, cards, etc.)

  • To be able to discuss and teach about religion in an unbiased and academically correct way.

  • To develop competences of youth workers, leaders and trainers needed for working in intercultural and interreligious European societies.

  • To understand and facilitate individual and group learning process, with special focus on interreligious dialogue.

  • To provide knowledge and useful tips when it comes to planning and implementing programs for non-formal education activities.

  • To foster quality improvements in youth work – the project will develop capacities of youth organisations to tackle interreligious dialogue and religious based issues

  • To be able to use a programme in participants further activities on interfaith dialogue, by this raising the quality of projects implemented within Erasmus + programme.
